The Chatham Maroons upset the London Nationals 4-2 at Memorial Arena on Sunday.

London got on the board first when Riley Wood scored just past the halfway mark. Mathew Cunningham tied the game for Chatham with a little over one minute left in the period.

Maroon forward David Brown would put his team ahead at the 3:08 mark of the second, with the Nationals down two players on penalties. Brown would score his second of the period at the 12:36 mark, putting put Chatham up 3-1. This would prove to be the game-winning goal for the Maroons.

Early in the third, London’s Talan Palmer would make it interesting, scoring and bringing the National to within one, at 3-2. Shy of the 18:00 mark, Chatham’s Julien Gervais would give the Maroons a two-goal cushion.

The last couple minutes of the game became a little nasty, with a couple of fights and scrums, and multiple players from both teams were sent to the shower early.

Chatham outshot London 37-25. As well, the Maroon’s penalty kill was a perfect 5-0 and their power play was one for seven.

The Maroons travel to LaSalle this coming Wednesday to face the Vipers. Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
