With two wins at home this weekend, the Tilbury Bluebirds have clinched first place in the WOSHL and guaranteed themselves a home-ice advantage throughout the playoffs.

On Saturday night in Tilbury, the Bluebirds were able to defeat the Strathroy Jets 3-1. The Jets have had the Birds’ number, handing them three losses this season.

Tyler Lawrence had a pair of goals for the Bluebirds, and a single went to Stephane Crevier. Wes Baker scored for the Jets.

On Sunday, the Bluebirds faced the Stratford Fighting Irish, handing them a 7-1 beating. Stratford weren’t able to handle the speed of the Bluebirds.

Scoring was spread out evenly by the Bluebirds with first-period goals scored by Mike MacIntyre, Kade Mckibbin, Travis Winkworth, and Mitchell VanTeeling.

In the second, Tilbury added three more goals with Erik Winter, Stephane Crevier, and Ryan Crevatin scoring. Stratford’s lone goal was scored by Warren Gorman.

Ryan Polidori was in net both nights for the Bluebirds.

Tilbury will face the eighth-place Plattesville Lakers in round one of the playoffs. The first round is a best of five while all future series are a best of seven.
