Branton sets two school records at swim meet
Port Lambton’s Shona Branton had a strong showing swimming for the Western Mustangs swim team on the weekend.
Branton competed at the 2023 Merrily Stratten Divisional Championship hosted by the University of Toronto Varsity Blues, on Saturday and Sunday. Branton completed the meet with three personal best times in her breaststroke events. In the: 100m 1:07.02, 200m 2:30.21, 50m 30.97
The times resulted in three first-place finishes and two Western swimming records (100 and 50). Branton was also part of a second-place finish in the 200m medley relay.
Branton, who was Western’s female athlete of the year last year, also had three USports qualifying times on the weekend (50, 100, 200m breaststroke).
