Two Chatham-Kent runners qualify for OFSAA
Two Chatham-Kent runners have qualified for the OFSAA cross country championships being held this Saturday in Etobicoke.
Chatham-Kent’s Gracie VanderGriendt won the novice girls’ four-kilometre race in 15:28 at the SWOSSAA cross-country championship at Windsor’s Malden Park on Oct. 24. She finished two seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.
Blenheim’s Samantha Stewart was fourth in the senior girls’ six-km race in 23:27.
Stewart ran in a tough field of runners, with Windsor Massey’s Anieu Chan winning the race in 22:31. Chan is only in Grade 9 and has a bright future ahead of her in both cross-country and track and field.
The top two teams and top five individuals not on those teams in each division qualified for OFSAA.
