Ursuline Lancers gunning for gold at OFSAA

UCC Lancers Volleyball

The Ursuline Lancers boys volleyball team has been called the best boys high school volleyball team in the province, and they’ve played like the best volleyball team in the province. With a number one seed at the OFSAA AAA’ boys volleyball tournament running from Nov. 23-25 in Windsor and Lakeshore, they have a huge target on their backs to prove they are the best volleyball team in Ontario.

The Lancers have dominated play this year, winning six tournaments and the LKSSAA and SWOSSAA titles. Overall, they are undefeated and have only lost one set this year, with a total match record of 53-0-1 this season.

It won’t be an easy road for the Lancers. Second seed Uxbridge won the OFSAA gold last year, third seed St. Catharines Eden won it in 2021. Both are powerhouse programs.

Last year at OFSAA in Kingston, the Lancers lost in the OFSAA quarter-finals as the No. 8-seeded team. Their only losses at the tournament were to the No. 1 and 3 seeds.

The Lancers begin pool play on Thursday morning versus 20 seed Lo-Ellen Park, followed by pool games versus Huron Heights (16 seed), and Franco-Cite ESC (6 seed). On Friday, the Lancers have an early-morning pool game versus London Lucas (11 seed).

Consolation and championship playoffs begin late Friday afternoon, with semi-finals and finals being held on Saturday at St. Annes in Belle River.
