McNaughton wins elementary school girls volleyball title
McNaughton Avenue Public School senior girls volleyball team defeated Indian Creek 3-1 in the Chatham elementary public school championships held on Wednesday at McNaughton Avenue Public School.
McNaughton lost the first set but came back to win the next three sets (18-25, 25-22, 25-17, 25-22).
McNaughton head coach Jenna Scrimshaw said it was an exciting match, especially after McNaughton dropped the first set.
“It’s very hard to come back after losing that first set, but they pushed through and they showed perseverance never fails and I’m really proud of them,” said Scrimshaw.
Scrimshaw said McNaughton had players who were often serving at a university caliber-level and the team was not afraid to throw their bodies across the floor to avoid giving up a point.
I’m a proud grandma of one of those girls and can say they have been a great team on and off the courts. They trained really hard and had excellent coaches. They were also the soccer ⚽️ champions this year as well. Proud that these girls are leaving elementary school with a bang. Congrats girls. 👏 There’s alot of proud friends and family sharing in your victories. Wish the team photo was from the front instead of the side.
