Monsignor Uyen wins Catholic boys volleyball title
Monsignor Uyen Catholic School boys volleyball team swept Sainte-Catherine Catholic Elementary School, winning 3-0 to win the boys volleyball Catholic Chatham elementary school title on Wednesday night.
Monsignor Uyen won 25-20, 25-14, 25-15 in their sets.
Monsignor Uyen had strength up the middle and strong passing. Coach Americo Todino, who is also the principal at the Baldoon Road school, said the team had a number of players who are strong in basketball, but have evolved into strong volleyball players.
“They’ve trained all season, and really improved. I’m so proud of them, honestly,” said Todino, who was helped by Brendan Spence with coaching..
Monsignor Uyen went deep, with a strong bench.
“They stuck together and really encouraged each other,” said Todino.
