Carleton signing a 2-year deal with Minnesota
According to published reports, Chatham’s Bridget Carleton is re-signing with the WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx on a two-year deal, as first reported by ESPN’s Alexa Philippou.
A member of the Canadian national women’s basketball team, Carleton, has played for Minnesota for the past five years.
WNBA signings can be made official on Feb. 1.
Carleton and Team Canada will take part in the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament next week. There will be 16 teams advancing to the Qualifying Tournament, where they will compete for 10 tickets to the Paris 2024 Olympics. Canada will be competing Feb. 8-11 in Sopran Hungary for an Olympic berth
This winter, Carleton has spent her offseason overseas with UNI Györ in Hungary, averaging 18.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.1 steals over seven EuroLeague games and posting 14.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.4 steals in seven Hungary-A Division games nearing the end of January.
The Lynx’s 2024 regular season is scheduled to start Tuesday, May 14 as Minnesota travels to Seattle.
