Chatham-Kent has two indoor walking programs
It’s cold and snowy outside, probably too cold to go for a walk. Keep updated for all of your general weather alerts here at Chatham-Kent Sports Network,
While we had a mild December in Chatham-Kent, with little snow, January has so far been a typical southwestern Ontario January.
It’s hard to get motivated to walk outside when it’s cold and windy. However, Chatham-Kent has two official indoor walking clubs. Both run from about Thanksgiving until the end of March (Chatham) and the end of April (Wallaceburg).
The first is at Chatham Memorial Arena. The walking program runs from Monday to Friday, from 7 a.m. to noon.
Here’s a tip, dress warmly. Remember, Memorial Arena is 75 years old, so it’s fairly cold inside the arena. Here’s another tip: the people walking are very friendly and appear to be a tight-knit group.
The second indoor walking group is at Wallaceburg District Secondary School. It runs on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 6-8 p.m.
For the Wallaceburg club enter at the Sydenham pool entrance. You might have to be buzzed in by the pool attendant.
For both walking programs they ask you to register with the municipality. You can do this either by going to the Civic Centre or a municipal service centre. You can also register online at the Chatham-Kent recreation page. There is no cost to register.
do you have a senior’s group. i’ve had heart surgery and just starting to get moving
When does the walking program start for 2024 at the Memorial arena? Thanks 🙂
