Maroons’ season comes to an end

The Chatham Maroons’ season has come to an end.

The LaSalle Vipers won 4-3 in overtime Sunday night at Chatham Memorial Arena to win the best-of-seven series 4-2.

LaSalle’s Jaksen Ward scored 3:15 into overtime to win Game 6 and give the Vipers the GOJHL Western Conference first-round playoff win. LaSalle now plays London in the conference semifinals. The Maroons led 3-2 for most of the third period until LaSalle’s Owen Findlay scored his second goal of the game with 32 seconds left to tie the game. LaSalle was playing with a man advantage, playing with their goalie on the bench.

David Brown scored twice for the Maroons and Rorey Elson added a single goal for Chatham.

It was an even playoff series. All six games were won by a goal. Four of the games went to overtime

    Exciting games by two evenly matched teams. Thanks for all the effort both teams and coaches put in to make these games so fun to watch. Hope the next series with London and LaSalle will be just as exciting.
