Barnstormers unveil uniforms

The Chatham-Kent Barnstormers IBL baseball team debuted their uniforms at a ceremony held at the Son’s of Kent Brewing Company on Thursday.

The Barnstormers showed off their home and away uniforms, which they will wear in their inaugural season.

The hat, logo, mascot, and now the uniforms are in place. The Barnstormers are ready for their first game on the road in Brantford on May 17. The Barnstormers home debut at Fergie Jenkins Field will be the next day, May 18 against Kitchener.

Barnstormers player Spencer Marcus is ready to play.

“Being from Chatham it’s an honour to put the uniforms on,” Marcus said. “The uniforms are very nice, I can’t wait to get on the field.

The home uniforms, are cream-coloured, and have Barnstormers script across the chest. The road uniforms are black with pinstripes.

Twenty-first century philosopher Deion Sanders, waxed poetically about the benefits of looking good.

“If you look good, you feel good, and if you feel good, you play good. If you play good, they pay good.”

Barnstormers player Garrett Day said that the players saw the uniforms for the first time on Thursday. He is a fan of the uniforms.

“The way they came out is perfect,” Day said. “They’re really clean. I like the high socks, it gives a bit of older feel to it since we’re the Barnstormers. I’m really excited for what we’re going to bring to Chatham this year.”

Day will wear number 35 this year for his hometown Barnstormers.

Chatham-Kent Barnstormers owner Dom Dinelle said the community has really got behind the Barnstormers. Dinelle said he sees Barnstormers hats and t-shirts all across Chatham-Kent, as the buzz grows in the lead up to the beginning of the season.

“Now it’s a month away and it’s crazy. The plate is full but this is what we wanted,” Dinelle said.
