Red Devils honouring Matt Cousins prior to home opener
The Wallaceburg Red Devils will host a ceremony prior to their home opener on Saturday to honour former player Matt Cousins.
The Red Devils will retire Cousins’ number 72 jersey in a pregame ceremony. The Red Devils are hosting the Welland Generals at 4 p.m.
Cousins died in May of last year, along with two others, in a car crash.
Red Devil officials are asking fans to come to Wallaceburg Memorial Arena a bit early, as it’s expected to be a large crowd and it might take people a while to get into the arena in time for the 4 p.m. start.
Cousins played for five seasons (2015-2019) with the Red Devils. He played 84 games, scoring four goals, 15 assists for 19 points in a defensive role with the team.
