Sabourin sets personal best hurdles time at CMU
Chatham’s Payton Sabourin, a senior hurdler on the track and field team at Central Michigan, set a personal-best in the 400 metre hurdles on the opening day of the Clark Wood Invitational in Louisville on Saturday.
Sabourin’s breakthrough in the 400m hurdles, is now the third-fastest time in Central Michigan program history. Sabourin’s historical time of 59.23 earned her second place among 18 competitors.
Earlier this month, Sabourin had a pair of top-five results at the Jesse Owens Classic track and field meet held in Columbus, Ohio.
A Chatham-Kent Secondary School grad, Sabourin helped the Central Michigan women’s 4×400-metre relay team place third in a season-best 3:52.30. She was also fifth in the 400-metre hurdles in 1:01.18.
Sabourin is in her first year at CMU, after competing for four years at Oakland University.
