UCC girls rugby wins Western University tournament

The Ursuline Lancers senior girls rugby team won the Western University rugby tournament held on April 10.

The Lancers won 20-0 versus London Laurier in the final. Scorers included, Cassandra Delpech with two, Issabella Gray, and Victoria Matteis.

To advance to the final, the Lancers won 25-0 versus Medway in the semi-final. Scorers included Emmanuella Caleb, Cassandra Delpech, Issabella Gray, Abby Case-Bullard and Sophia Handsor

In pool play, the Lancers lost to London Laurier 5-0 and defeated St. Thomas Parkside 30-0, with Cassandra Delpech scoring twice and single tries from Morgan Smith, Issabella Gray, Abby Case-Bullard, Faith Heyink and Victoria Matteis.

The junior team also took part and went 1-0-2. They tied London Catholoic Central 10-10, beat London Clarke Road 10-0, and tied Woodstock Huron Park 10-10. Emmanuella Caleb scored a try in all three games, with Julianna Deryck, KennedySykes and Anna Koleosho also scoring tries.
