Barnstormers open Inaugural Season with Pair of Wins
The Chatham-Kent Barn Stormers have opened their inaugural season with 2 games and 2 wins.
The team were set to open their season on the road in Brantford on Friday, but Mother Nature had other plans and the game was postponed due to rain.
This made the team’s game on Saturday not only their season opener but also their home opener as they welcomed the Kitchener Panthers.
Chatham’s starting pitcher Aden Ryan threw 5 scoreless innings in the 5-3 win. He only gve up 4 hits total and had 5 strike outs. The game was clinched by the work of Robert Mackie who only allowed one on a hit and a walk.
On Sunday the team saw another strong performance with the team travelling to Christie Pits to face the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Robert Mackie’s solo home run in the top of the 8th breaking a 4-4 tie.
He also doubled and scored three times in the game.
Starting pitcher Kenny Williams went 6 innings and only allowed 2 runs on 4 hits with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts.a
The Barnstormers took the game 6-4 to move to 2-0 on the season.
