Negri golden at OFSAA
Ursuline’s Emma Negri won the junior girls discus gold medal at the OFSAA high school track and field championship held this past weekend at London’s Western Alumni Stadium.
With a throw of 40.75 metres, Negri won the discus by over five metres. Negri also won bronze in the junior girls shot put. She was on top of the leaderboard until the final throws when two competitors rose above her.
Negri won gold in both novice girls discus and novice girls shot put last year, giving her a total of three gold and a bronze over two years at the provincial championships.
A Blenheim resident, Negri is scheduled to go to the Canadian under-20 championships, which are part of the Olympic trials June 26 to 30 in Montreal.
A Grade 10 student at UCC, Negri intends to attend the sports powerhouse IMG Academy in Florida in the fall. The academy trains thousands of youth, high school, collegiate and professional athletes annually.
Congratulations!!
