Blades plan to honour Spence

The Blenheim Blades announced at their year-end banquet that they plan to honour Craig Spence.

The Blades will be retiring Spence’s number 10 during their annual Alumni Night being held on Nov. 16. Additionally, the Blades will be inducting Spence into the Blades Hall of Fame

Spence, who was the Blades’ captain, had a spectacular year last season with the Blades.

Tragically the 22-year-old from Chatham died last April in a collision on Highway 401 in London.

Spence was a seventh-round pick by the Mississauga Steelheads in the 2018 Ontario Hockey League draft, and later was an assistant captain with the Chatham Maroons before joining Blenheim.

Last year with Blenheim, Spence put up 74 points in 36 games as a defenceman.
