Carleton officially named to Team Canada roster

Although it was a lock, Chatham’s Bridget Carleton was officially named to the Canadian women’s national basketball team competing in the Paris Olympics. She is expected to be a key player for the Canadian team.

This will be Carleton’s second Olympic go-around, as she competed for Canada at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. In Tokyo, Carleton played in all three games for her home country, averaging 11.3 points, 6 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per contest.

A member of the WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx, Carleton is having a strong year averaging career highs of 8.4 points and 3.7 rebounds over 28.9 minutes per game. Carleton has also shot the ball well from deep for the Lynx, ranking seventh in the WNBA in 3-point percentage with a mark of 43.8%.

Carleton and Team Canada will kick off the 2024 Paris Olympics on July 29 when they begin Group B play against France. Canada will also take on Australia on Aug. 1 and Nigeria on Aug. 4 before the knockout and medal rounds take place.
