Negri medals at nationals

After winning a gold medal at the OFSAA track and field meet held last month, Emma Negri has continued to add to her medal collection.

The Blenheim native competed at the Canadian U20 National Track & Field Championships in Montreal June 25-30, throwing both hammer and discus in the U20 division. (She is currently a first year U18 so she was throwing against girls as old as 19).

On Wednesday evening, she earned the bronze medal in hammer throw with a throw of 49.35 metres and on Sunday morning she earned the silver in discus with a throw of 42.48 metres.

Plans for July include a few smaller meets and then the Athletics Ontario Provincial Championships at the end of the month.

Negri will take the month of August off before moving to Bradenton, Florida at the end of August to continue her high school education and sport training at the IMG Academy.
