Shognosh and Dalgety compete at Founders Cup

Two local lacrosse goalies were on teams vying for the Canadian Junior B lacrosse championship held in Hamilton last week.

Walpole Island’s Waukiigan Shognosh was in net for the Onondaga Redhawks, who took home the bronze medal with an 11-3 win over the Victoria Shamrocks.

Shognosh, who turned 17 earlier this summer, played Junior B lacrosse for the Wallaceburg

Red Devils this past season. He was named the Ontario Junior B Lacrosse League’s rookie of the year.

Sombra’s Austin Dalgety played for New Brunswick representative Saint John Rapids. The Rapids went 1-3 at the Founders Cup.

Dalgety joined the Rapids after playing this season for the Point Edward Pacers. The 16 year-old was named the Pacers rookie of the year.

Shognosh attends Wallaceburg District Secondary School, while Dalgety goes to Great Lakes Secondary School.
