Two Red Devils win league awards
Two Wallaceburg Red Devils players won 2024 Ontario Junior B Lacrosse League awards.
Kaelen Smith won the league’s most sportsmanlike award, while Waukiigan Shognosh was named the league’s rookie of the year.
The Red Devils were the OJBLL Far West Division champs in 2024.
Both Smith and Shognosh are graduates of the Wallaceburg Griffins minor lacrosse system.
Smith was the leading scorer for the Red Devils with 63 points (27 goals and 36 assists). In 18 games Smith, who is 19, only had two penalty minutes.
Shognosh had a strong year in net for the Red Devils. He had an 85.4 save percentage, which was the second highest in the league amongst qualifying goalies.
Shognosh has a bright future in lacrosse, and was a the second overall pick in the 2024 Ontario Junior A Lacrosse League draft, by the Peterborough Junior Lakers.
