Ferrah Blackbird leads Haudenosaunee at Worlds

Playing for Team Haudenosaunee, Walpole Island’s Ferrah Blackbird is having a strong tournament at the World Box Lacrosse Championship being held in Utica N.Y.

Haudenosaunee advanced to the quarterfinals with a 3-1 record. Blackbird is Haudenosaunee’s leading scorer with 17 points (10 goals and seven assists).

The quarterfinal game for Haudenosaunee is scheduled for Thursday, as they will take on Germany.

Haudenosaunee opened up pool play with a 11-4 loss to the United States. They bounced back with a 17-3 win over Hong Kong China. Blackbird led Haudenosunee with nine points, scoring six goals and adding three assists.

In a 15-6 win over England, Blackbird had a goal and three assists.

In a 19-4 win over the Netherlands, Blackbird had three goals and an assist.

An all-around athlete, Blackbird has committed to play for the Lambton College women’s basketball team this season.
