Willimot wins provinvial Golden Gloves
A 13-year-old Chatham boxer won a provincial championship.
KAYO Boxing Club’s Landen Willimot is the provincial champion and Golden Gloves champion in the 60-kilogram (Junior B) division earlier this month.
The gold-medal fight took place on October 4 in Windsor.
A Grade 8 student at King George VI Public School, Willimot has a 17-3 record.
Willimot is part of a fifth-generation boxing family. His mother Aimee is a three-time national champion, and his father Floyd Porter is a former provincial and Winter Games champion.
Porter has also led the KAYO Boxing organization for decades.
