Blades to retire Spence’s number

It will be an emotional night in Blenheim on Saturday, as the Blenheim Blades junior hockey team is scheduled to retire Craig Spence’s jersey number.

Spence’s number 10 will be retired and he will be inducted into the Blades Hall of Fame. The ceremony will take place prior to the Blades’ game versus Wheatley at 6 p.m.

Spence was the Blades captain last season. The 22-year-old from Chatham died last April in a collision on Highway 401 near London.

The Blades begin their annual Dave Baldwin Alumni Day with alumni games at 3 and 4 p.m. at Blenheim Memorial Arena.
