Farmers taking over Wallaceburg this weekend

The Richmond family presents the Bob Richmond Memorial trophy to the John Young Jr. Team from Blenheim for winning the 2024 All-Ontario Farmers Bonspiel at the Sydenham Community Curling Club.

The 38th All Ontario Farmers curling bonspiel is taking place on January 17-20 at Sydenham Community Curling Club (SCCC). A total of 28 teams made up of farmers and those who work in the agricultural sector from across Ontario will be vying for the top prize of $3,000.

The bonspiel is well-known for its entertainment, good food, and fun.

Many sponsors donate products of seed, promotional items, cash, and other farm inputs to fill out more than a total prize board of $19,000. Led by Waddick Fuels with the $3,000 first place prize. The Blenheim team of John Young will be returning to defend their crown.

Mike Gallant headlines Friday nights entertainment. Saturday night features Frazer Fraze returning from several years ago with his comedy/hypnosis show.

Curling starts bright and early on Friday with a four-game guarantee that wraps up with Sunday’s finals at 2 p.m.

A door prize table with at least $5,000 in prizes to be won.

The organizing committee is led by Jerry Meyskens. Many SCCC volunteers make this possible and help make for a major fund raiser. Spectators are welcome to see some high level and not so high-level curling.
