Ethan Jordan preparing for pro football

The next few months will be a whirlwind of activity for Chatham’s Ethan Jordan, as he prepares to become a professional football player.

Jordan, a standout wide receiver with the Laurier Golden Hawks football team, competed this past weekend at the CGS College Gridiron Showcase Bowl event in Fort Worth Texas.

A graduate of Chatham-Kent Secondary School, Jordan was able to compete against United States Division I and II college football players and gained exposure having interviews with all the CFL teams in attendance, and had discussions and heard feedback from NFL scouts. The CGS experience should help the former Chatham-Kent Cougar when he takes part in the CFL National Combine in March in Regina Saskatchewan.

There were 100 players at the CGS event and 16 U Sport Canadian football players invited, including Laurier quarterback Taylor Elgersma.

CGS College Gridiron Showcase Format showcases players through practices with professional coaches. Players also performed individual and team drills, participate in one-on-ones, attend meetings, and, in many cases, have the opportunity for personal interviews with scouts and executives.

At Laurier, Jordan was a three-time all-Canadian and set Laurier’s single-season reception yards record. This past season he led all U Sports receivers this year in receptions (59), touchdowns (10), yards per game (125) and total yards (1,000).
