Maroons help fight mental health stigma

Thousands of dollars has been raised to support mental health in Chatham-Kent, thanks to the Chatham Maroons and their fans.

Sunday’s “Face off for Mental Health” game at Memorial Arena raised $3,495 through the auction of special green jerseys worn by the Maroons during warm ups as well as other sports memorabilia and a donation from the team.

All proceeds support mental health programming for youth in the community.

Members of the Timbits hockey program were in attendance for the special pre-game ceremony to remind everyone that mental health matters at every age.

The event was organized by the Mental Health Table, a community-driven imitative working to break the stigma surrounding mental health and connect people with the resources they need, when they need them.
