Wolting top female runner at PoHo Hot Cocoa 10 mile race

A number of Chatham-Kent runners had strong showings at the 14th annual PoHo Hot Cocoa Race held this past Saturday (Jan. 25) in Port Huron.

Options for runners included 5k, 10k, 10 mile, and even a kids 1-mile race. The race is the largest running event in Michigan in the month of January.

10 mile

In the 10 mile race, Chatham’s Alexandra Wolting was the top female finisher. She finished eleventh overall.

Wallaceburg’s Bryan Cowden finished third overall and first in his age division (male 40-44).

Scott MacLeod from Chatham, finished sixth overall and first in his age division (male 50-54).

Wallaceburg’s Brian Horrobin was seventh overall and first in his age division (male 55-59).

Ryan Nowakowski who hails from Wallaceburg, was eighth overall and and first in his age division (45-49).

Blenheim’s Andrew Flanigan was tenth overall. Chatham’s Brad Luth was 13th overall, and Chatham’s Brian Roffel was 15th overall. Wallaceburg’s Joe Perry was 22nd oveall and Dresden’s Cameron Thompson was 24th overall.

Chatham’s Roger Vanoostveen was 33rd overall and was the top runner in his age division (male 60-64). Chatham’s Cory Woodrow was 57th overall and top in her age division (female 50-54).

A total of 108 runners were in the 10 mile race.

10 kilometre

Local runners who finished in the top 25: Blenheim’s Ginger Wilken (10th), Chatham’s Brynelle Glover (11th), Blenheim’s Lauren MacTavish (14th), Blenheim’s Patrick Wilken (15th), Chatham’s Rachel MacLeod (20th),

The 10km race featured 107 runners.

Five kilometre

Local runners who finished in the top 40: Chatham’s Nick Gervasi (third), Chatham’s Brooke MacLeod (fourth), Chatham’s Jaelyn Roffel (14th), Wallaceburg’s Mike Hess (18th) and Dresden’s Cindel Thompson (40th).

Brooke MacLeod was the top female in the five kilometre race.

The five kilometre race was a popular event with 245 participants.
