Cyclones win provincial bronze

The Chatham-Kent Cyclones AAA U13 hockey team came home with a bronze medal at the U13 AAA Ontario/Central Region championships held this past weekend in Sudbury.

The Cyclones won 9-4 against the Ottawa Valley Titans.

Wallaceburg’s Jaxon Kenny led Chatham-Kent with two goals, with singles going to Shea Allton, Sutter Schaafsma, Corson Burk, Bennett Campbell, Paolo Defranceschi, Blake Savage and Mason Garant.

In pool play the Cyclones went 4-2, beating Thunder Bay Kings 9-0, Sudbury Wolves 8-3, North Bay Trappers 5-2 and the Vaughan Kings 8-2, while losing to the Barrie Colts 2-0 and the Ottawa Valley Titans 4-2. The Cyclones lost in the semi-final 4-1 to North Bay.

Jaxon Kenny led the seven-team tournament in goals with 12 and was tied for the tournament points lead with 24.
