Local hockey players help Canucks advance to nationals

Five local hockey players have played a big role in helping the Elgin Middlesex Canucks U18 AAA team advance to this month’s Telus Cup national championships.

The Canucks defeated the Vaughan Kings 3-2 in overtime in the Central Region final Sunday at the North Grenville Municipal Centre. Elgin-Middlesex will now play in the Telus Cup in Chilliwack, B.C., April 21-27.

Wallaceburg’s Nash Jacobs, Blenheim’s Chase Pettipiece, Chatham’s Parker Graham, Blenheim’s Morgan Paine and Port Lambton’s Brock Lane are all on the Canucks.

Jacobs, Pettipiece, Graham and Paine were the Canucks’ top four points leaders for Elgin-Middlesex. Lane was a goalie.

Pettipiece, Paine and Lane were all affiliate players with the Chatham Maroons, while Jacobs was an affiliate player with the Sarnia Legionnaires this past season.
