Thank you Gannon Hunter.
Young goaltender Gannon Hunter was fantastic in net for the Chatham Maroons, helping the Maroons win Game 7 by a 2-1 score over the Stratford Warriors, Sunday night at Chatham Memorial Arena in front of 1,845 fans.
The Maroons will now advance to the GOJHL Western Conference final. They will play the winner of the London Nationals-St. Mary’s Lincolns series, which is tied 3-3. Game 7 of that series will take place on Tuesday night.
Hunter made 38 saves to lead the Maroons to victory.
After a scoreless first period, Ian Lachance and Sean Truby both scored for Chatham in the second period. Stratford’s Colin Slattery scored early in the third period to make it 2-1.
The Warriors had an extended five-on-three power play with about eight minutes left in the third period but Hunter made a number of key stops. He was also strong in the final couple of minutes of the game when Stratford pulled their goalie looking to send the game into overtime by tying the game up.
