It was a tight game in the end, but the Chatham Maroons held on to beat the Stratford Warriors 5-4 in Game One of their GOJHL Western Conference semifinal held Sunday night at Chatham Memorial Arena.

The Maroons appeared to be cruising to an easy victory, as they were up 5-1 eight minutes into the second period, and led 5-2 heading into the third period. Stratford scored two goals in the third period to get within one goal.

The Warriors appeared to tie the game with just over a minute remaining, but the referee quickly disallowed the goal because the Chatham net was off of its moorings.

Dylan Richter, Brody Gillis, Sean Truby, Cruz Ferguson and Ian Lachance scored for Chatham.
