Jacobs and Altiman take part in National Aboriginal Hockey Championships

Walpole Island First Nation members Nash Jacobs and Ali Altiman took part in the National Aboriginal Hockey Championships held last weekend in Kamloops B.C.

Jacobs played for the male Team Ontario team and Altiman played for the female Team Ontario team., both teams lost in the bronze medal game,

A resident of Wallaceburg, the NAHC tournament wrapped up a long and successful season for Jacobs. A Saginaw Spirit draft pick, Jacobs played this past season with the Elgin-Middlesex Canucks U18 team.

The Canucks played in British Columbia last month in the Telus Cup—the U18 AAA Canadian championship. Elgin-Middlesex were the U18 AAA Alliance champs, as well as the U18 AAA Central Region champions.

Jacobs was the U18 Alliance league leading scorer.

Altiman led Team Ontario in points with nine, (one goal and eight assists). She was third in points overall in the tournament. This was Altiman’s fourth NAHC tournament.

This past season Altiman played in the OWHL with the London Devilettes. She was the team’s leading goal scorer (13) and was tied for the team lead in points (21).
