Branton named to Team Canada for World University Games

Port Lambton’s Shona Branton has been named to the Team Canada swimming team roster taking part in the 2025 World University Summer Games being held in Germany.
U SPORTS, as the Canadian representative of the International University Sports Federation, and Swimming Canada, made the announcement for the team that will be taking part in the World University Games this summer in the Rhine-Ruhr region of Germany. Swimming will take place in Berlin from July 17-23.
Twelve swimmers, (six female, six male), will represent Canada in Germany.
A graduate of Wallaceburg District Secondary School, Branton, was the athlete of the meet at the 2024 U SPORTS championships.
Branton has swam for the Western Mustangs for the past four years. She holds all of Western’s breaststroke records, including all OUA breaststroke records, and the U SPORTS record in the 50 meter breaststroke. Shona received athlete of the year for Western in 2023 and 2024 for her accomplishments in the pool.
