Laprise shines at U22 nationals

Wallaceburg’s Lucas Laprise was the 2025 Port Lambton Gala Days home run derby champion
What a summer for Wallaceburg’s Lucas Laprise.
Laprise hit a two-run home run, accounting for his team’s only two runs to help the Windsor Selects win a gold medal at the Canadian U22 baseball championship Sunday in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
The Selects beat the Halifax Mets 2-0 in the final to finish with a 7-0 overall record.
Laprise, who was the youngest player on the Windsor team, also had a game-winning walk-off home run earlier in the tournament in preliminary play.
A recent graduate of Wallaceburg District Secondary School, Laprise also won the Port Lambton Gala Days home run contest earlier this month. He also leads the Intercounty Baseball League’s Chatham-Kent Barnstormers in batting average (1.000). (Okay, he only has one at-bat as a junior call-up, but hey, stats are stats),
