Lambton College Calls On CK Soccer Players

The Lambton College Lions women’s soccer team is entering this OCAA season with several Chatham-Kent soccer players lining their roster. The Lions, who started the season 1-0-1, have five players on their roster from Chatham-Kent, or who attended a Kent County high school.

In their season opening game, a 1-1 draw against the Conestoga College Condors, Chatham’s Laura Gillett scored the lone goal for Lambton College. Gillett starred this summer for the Chatham Eagles soccer team. Gillett, a striker, is in her first season with the Lions, and finished second on the Eagles this summer with 3 goals.

Facing the Sheridan College Bruins in their second game September 15, Laura Gillett struck again for the Lambton College Lions, scoring her second goal of the season in Lambton’s 2-1 win.

The Lambton College Lions also feature Wallaceburg’s Renee Gittens, and Port Lambton’s Sam Feddes, who both played high school soccer for the Wallaceburg Tartans. Feddes, a midfielder is in her second season at Lambton College, while Gittens, a defender is in her third with the team.

Chatham’s Kortnie Vandehogan is another defender, also in her third year at Lambton College, while keeper Jen Dienerch of Chatham is in her second season.

The Lambton College Lions will next face Mohawk College September 20.
