73s beaten 7-3 by the Wallaceburg Lakers

Wallaceburg Lakers face off against the Essex 73s - Chatham-Kent Sports Network

By beating the Essex 73s 7-3 on the road, the Wallaceburg Lakers managed to split their home and home series with Essex. On the previous day, Essex handed Wallaceburg one of their worst losses of the season, beating the Lakers 6-1

Wallaceburg stormed out of the gates early with 3 goals by star Norm Leger. After piling on a 7-1 lead, the Lakers relaxed only slightly allowing Essex to close the gap to 7-3 by the final buzzer.

Other Wallaceburg goal scorers were Tyson Isaac with 2, Wayd Pitfield, and Rob Pollock.

Tuesday in Essex, the Lakers couldn’t get anything going. Essex, who is averaging almost 750 fans per game, more than any other Junior C, and all but two teams in the Greater Ontario Junior B League, fed off their loud home crowd to hold the Lakers to only a single goal by Wayd Pitfield on the powerplay.

Wallaceburg, who is still sitting first overall in the Great Lakes Junior C League plays again next Wednesday at home against Mooretown.
