KCSSAA Hockey News, Chatham, ON – The Chatham-Kent Secondary School Golden Hawks got off to a hot start in the New Year winning their first game of the New Year KCSSAA schedule 4-3 over the John McGregor Panthers.

CKSS got out to an early lead as defenseman Ashwin Roy slipped in from the point and rocketed a one timer along the ice to beat the JMSS goalie. The Hawks extended their lead to 2-0 when Macks Holmes potted his first of the game.

The JMSS Panthers didn’t give up however as they rallied back on goals from Curtis Labute, Brooks Shepley, and Andrew Milkovic. Derek Daly scored for the Hawks, keeping the game tied with only minutes left on the clock.

Macks Holmes came through for the CKSS Golden Hawks scoring his second of the game, and the game winner to make it 4-3. Justin Pratt took the win in net for CKSS.

With the win, CKSS took over first overall in the KCSSAA Boys Hockey Standings.

In girls action, Ridgetown played to a 0-0 tie against UCC. Carrie Bishop recorded the shutout for Ridgetown, while Katrina Heyink notched the shutout for UCC.
