Blenheim Blades narrow the gap with Wallaceburg
Wallaceburg, ON – After dominating the opening games of their series against the Blenheim Blades, the Wallaceburg Lakers didn’t see the Blades coming as they narrowed they took home their first win of the GLJHL playoffs.
Wednesday in Wallaceburg however, the Blades bounced back holding onto a 2-1 lead for the win.
The game opened with Blenheim’s Nathan Puchnatyj scoring an unassisted goal midway through the first period. Wallaceburg, however, responded with only 5 seconds left in the frame on the powerplay with a goal from Rob Pollock.
After that goal, Blenheim netminder Taylor Speed shut the door on the Lakers. Speed made 42 saves in the game including several with time winding down in the game.
Thomas Innes, Blenheim’s regular season leader, scored the game winning goal in the second period, assisted by Brendan Anger and Taylor Phillips.
The series now returns to Blenheim this Sunday, followed by Monday in Wallaceburg.
