Chatham-Kent Hockey Heroes Update
Playoff hockey started this past week in the Ontario Hockey League, and Wallaceburg’s Seth Griffith is off to a great start for his London Knights. Seth picked up four points in the first two games against the Owen Sound Attack in their best-of-seven opening round series. On March 25, Seth had two assists in the Knights’ 3-2 loss to Owen Sound, but came back at home the next night to score a goal and an assist as London beat the Attack, 5-1. Third game in the series is March 29….
Blenheim’s Kyle Hope and his Oshawa Generals have a two-game lead on the Kingston Frontenacs in their best-of-seven series. The Generals won the opener 7-3 on March 24 and came back the next night to beat the Frontenacs, 10-1. Kyle had an assist in that game…
Playoff hockey gets under way this week in the Central Hockey League when Wallaceburg’s Jamie Vanderveeken and his Arizona Sundogs open a best-of-five series with the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs on April 1. The Sundogs dropped their last two home regular season games to Jamie’s old team, the Rapid City Rush. Jamie had a powerplay goal in the 4-3 loss to the Rush on March 25….
Playoffs are still a week away in the ECHL where Dresden’s Wes Cunningham and his Greenville Road Warriors hope to contend. Wes had an assist in a 5-2 win over the Reading Royals on March 24….
Fellow Dresden native, T.J. Brodie, picked up an assist in a 3-2 loss to the Manitoba Moose in the American Hockey League on March 25….
And, finally, Chatham’s Ryan Jones got his 17th goal of the season for the Edmonton Oilers as they loss in a 5-4 shootout to the Calgary Flames on March 26.
