Dresden Kings Name New Executive, Looking for New Head Coach, GM
After 30 years with the organization, the Dresden Jr. Kings are saying goodbye to some of their executive members who were integral in building the team in recent decades. Leaving the organization are Wayne Cowell, the team’s coach and general manager from last season who announced his retirement in February, as well as former Jr. Kings president Kevin Hughson.
The Dresden Jr. Kings new exectuive board members elected at a recent emergency meeting called by former Kings president Kevin Hughson are:
President: Dave Cameron
Vice President: Gregg Tuckwell
Secretary: Heidi Marchand
Treasurer: Jack Leclair
Director: Dave Houston
Director: Jason Badder
Assistant GM: Derek Ellis
Director of Hockey: Bill Nicholson
Prevention Officers: Carl Herder, Don Vitek
The Dresden Kings finished last overall in the Great Lakes Junior C Hockey League this season, failing to qualify for the playoffs. Most recently, the Kings captured the Great Lakes title in 2004. Founded in 1960, the organization has been a staple of the Dresden community for over 50 years, but are now welcoming several new faces on the executive to help guide the team back to its former glory.
First order on that agenda is to name a new head coach and general manager with the exit of Wayne Cowell leaving these positions vacant. Applications for the job(s) can be sent to new Dresden Jr. Kings president Dave Cameron at acecam@sympatico.ca.
