Chatham Maroons Name New Head Coach and General Manager
The Chatham Maroons will have a few fresh faces on their bench for the 2011-2012 season as the team named Bill Bowler new head coach and general manager. Last season, Bowler was the Maroons’ Director of Hockey Development.
Also on the Chatham Maroons bench will be Brad Meredith, who has served as an assistant coach with the team for several seasons, and last season replaced Marc Swayze as head coach of the Maroons following a losing streak which lasted for more than a month of the Maroons season.
Long time Maroons staff member Don Johnson will also return as an assistant coach and goalie coach.
New to the bench along with Bowler, is former Chatham Maroons forward Kyle O’Neil. O’Neil starred for the Maroons in the early 2000’s and returns to the team after coaching ‘AAA’ hockey.
Bowler brings a wealth of hockey experience to the club including playing breifly for the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets in 2000-2001. Bowler and his staff will get their first look at next season’s Chatham Maroons as they begin their mini-camp in early May.
The Maroons 2010-2011 season ended after a game 6 elimination at the hands of the Strathroy Rockets.
