Kent Havoc Rugby Hosts Development Day in Chatham

The Kent Havoc Rugby Football Club hosted a High School Girls Development day on Saturday, attended by CKSS, South London Collegiate Institute, Sir Wilfred Laurier Secondary School, Belle River District High School, UCC and Blenheim District High School.

Approximately 170 players participated in both full games and coach assisted scrimmages. The schools involved ranged in experience from last years OFFSAA A-AA Consolation Champions through to a brand new program from South London Collegiate.

The intent of the day was player, coach and referee development, giving the girls games against comparable opponents while learning more about the game. There were also referees completing their certification by being monitored by a Referee evaluator/coach.

Despite the rainy weather, the games continued throughout the day. The fields in Chatham-Kent are in much better shape than those in London, so both London schools were very happy to have the opportunity to get some playing time in.

Kent Havoc considered the day a success, and are considering making the event an annual occurence in Chatham-Kent.
