WDSS, CKSS Sweep Opening Games of Senior Soccer Season

ESPC Patiotes - CKSS Golden Hawks Soccer

Two Chatham-Kent high schools started their senior soccer season’s off on a high note winning games in both the girls and boys KCSSAA soccer divisions.

Wallaceburg District Secondary School beat Tilbury in both games they played in Tilbury Tuesday night. The WDSS Tartans Girls team, led by Kaylene Hagen’s hat trick, crushed the Tilbury Titans senior girls team 8-1. Other Wallaceburg goal scorers were Kourtney O’Conner and Christina DeBakker with 2 goals each, and Ashley DeBakker with a single. Tilbury’s lone goal came from AbbeyLamb.

On the boy’s side of this match up, the reigning KCSSAA champion Wallaceburg Tartans narrowly defeated the Tilbury Titans 3-2. Garth Denys, Mike Foster and Bobby Zenick scored for the WDSS Tartans while Justin Nussey and James Martin scored for the Tilbury Titans.

In Pain Court, the Chatham-Kent Secondary School Golden Hawks swept both of their games against the Pain Court Patriotes. In the girls game, CKSS defeated ESPC 5-2. Goal scorers from the Golden Hawks were Sydney Holmes, Ellen Wanamaker, Hannah Kennedy, Brooke Armstrong, and Jessica Mullins. Pain Court’s goals came from Courtney Postma and Cassandra Faubert.

Although the Pain Court boys team led at the half, the CKSS Golden Hawks again pulled off  a win, this time by a score of 3-1. Justin Pratt, E. Standeart, and A. Roberts scored for CKSS, while Blake Blondeel had the only goal for Pain Court.

Wednesday, the UCC Lancers play the Chatham Christian Flames in senior boys soccer action.
