Whitson To Play For Gold, Has Another 3-Point Game at World Sledge Hockey Challenege
Canada’s success on their way to an appearance in the Gold Medal game at the World Sledge Hockey Challenge in London, Ontario, has been in no small part because of Chatham’s Derek Whitson. Whitson has 9-points in his last three games including 3 assists in the semi-final against Japan.
For the third straight game, Whitson had 3 points and his team defeated their opponent by double digits, as they blew out Japan 11-1 in the semi-final, to advance to play Norway for Gold.
Whitson assisted on goals by Billy Bridges, Scott Karrasch, and Anthony Gale. In their game eariler in the tournament against Norway, Canada ran away with the win 14-0, a game in which Derek Whitson had a goal and 2 assists.
The World Sledge Hockey Challenge gold medal game hits the ice at 2:00pm on Saturday with Team Canada taking on Norway.
