CKSS Wins Overall Team Title at Kent Track and Field Meet

Tom Bednarik highlighted Chatham-Kent Secondary School’s overall Kent Track and Field title by sharing Male Athlete of the Meet honours with UCC’s Taylor McArthur. The two young men also shared last year’s Kent Male Athlete of the Meet honours. Bednarik won the Senior Boys triple jump, long jump, and 100m dash events, while McArthur was first in the 3000m, 1500m, and 800m.

CKSS won the midget girl, midget boy, junior girl, and senior girl team categories, while the UCC Lancers won junior and senior boys. Chatham Christian won the overall ‘A’ division title.

Winning the female Athlete of the Meet honours was Breanne Nicholas from Blenheim District High School. Nicholas won the 400m, javelin, and long jump events.

Another highlight of the meet was UCC’s Garrett Turner’s record breaking performance in the 100m hurdles. Turner was the only athlete to approach record status on Tuesday or Wednesday running the 100m hurdles event in a time of Kent record time of 15:48 seconds.
