Marc Swayze to Take Over as Head Coach and GM of Dresden Kings
After serving in the same position with the Chatham Jr.B Maroons for the past several seasons, Marc Swayze will be taking over as the head coach and general manager of the Dresden Kings Jr.C hockey team.
After stepping down as the Maroons head coach following a more than month long losing streak last season, Swayze has another large task at hand, as the Dresden Kings were the only Great Lakes Junior C team to not qualify for the 2011 playoffs.
Swayze is replacing former Kings head coach Bob Gould, and general manager Wayne Cowell, who recently took on the GM’s job with the Blenheim Blades.
This is not Swayze’s first go around at the Junior C level as he coached with the Blenheim Blades more than half a decade ago. His head coaching role with the Chatham Maroons were given to former NHLer Bill Bowler for the coming season.
Although he is no longer a direct employee of the Chatham Maroons, Swayze’s Dresden Kings will still have a role in the future success of the organization. as the Kings have served as affiliates for the Maroons the past two seasons, and plan to hold the same relationship this season.
