Wallaceburg’s Seth Griffith has been named the April 2011 Chatham-Kent Athlete of the Month. Griffith competed with the OHL’s London Knights in the opening days of the month, and was later named to and played with Team Canada’s Under-18 squad at the U18 World Championships of hockey.
With the London Knights, Griffith led his team in playoff scoring despite bowing out to the Owen Sound Attack in the opening round of the OHL playoffs. Griffith scored 3 goals and added 4 assists for 7 points in only 6 games for the Knights.
As a member of Team Canada, Seth Griffith was held off the scoresheet in each of his games at the IIHF U-18 World Championships, although he did fire multiple shots on net per game and was a scoring threat while playing in a checking line role. Canada Head Coach Mike Williamson had this to say about Griffith heading into the tournament,
“We like Seth’s compete level and his ability to play a stong role on all three zones. We feel Seth has the offensive skill to help contribute to our success.”
Now, Griffith has returned to Chatham-Kent were he attends high school at Wallaceburg District Secondary School. Griffith is the 158th ranked skater in North America heading into June’s NHL Priority Draft.
