Chatham-Kent Cougars Shut Out in Burlington
Burlington proved to be too powerful for the Varsity and Junior Varsity Chatham-Kent Cougars this weekend as both teams were shut out with the Varsity Cougars losing 39-0 and the JV Cougars losing 53-0.
In the JV Chatham-Kent Cougars game, the Burlington Stampeders took it to the Cougars from start to finish. The Chatham-Kent defence saw a lot of playing time with Kameron Rylett-Ward getting his share of tackles with 7 and 2 fumble recoveries. Carter Wood had a QB sack and 6 tackles, Erich Demars totalled 6 tackles and Anthony Cunha had 4. Last week’s star, Ben Bartlett of Charing Cross, who was also a key component of the Blenheim Bobcats junior high school squad, had 3 tackles and blocked a convert.
Offensively, Chatham-Kent JV Cougars quarterback Cole Herman threw 7 completions totalling 75 yards, while running back Tanner Emery accumulated 87 yards on 11 carries. Jon Ashby caught 2 passes for 24 yards, while Bartlett picked up 21 yards.
The next game is for the Chatham-Kent JV Cougars is on June 19th at 7:30pm, when CK will be hosting the Sarnia Sturgeons at the CKSS athletic complex under the lights.
