Darian's Darios Set To Replace Fantuz Flakes
A new CFL season has yet to even begin, and already the Saskatchewan Roughriders and their fans are set to move on from a legacy left by Chatham’s Andy Fantuz, including by replacing his Fantuz Flakes with Darian’s (Darian Durant) Darios.
Durant admitted that he doesn’t expect his cereal to reach the level of popularity Fantuz Flakes had, stating that Fantuz had icon status in Saskatchewan. Durant’s cereal will be released July 5, only weeks before Fantuz is scheduled to begin training camp with the NFL’s Chicago Bears, if, and when a resolution is found for the current NFL lockout.
With the release of Dari-o’s, it appears Rider Nation is doing their best to move forward following Fantuz’ exit to the NFL. Saskatchewan officially opens their regular season schedule Sunday, July 3 at home against the Edmonton Eskimos.
Pending a labour agreement, the Chicago Bears are scheduled to begin their 2011 training camp on July 23 at Olivet Nazarene University in Illinois.
